Terms of Service
Last updated: May 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Lumen (“the Service”), an independent online study tool for dental board exam preparation. By accessing the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Independent study tool
Lumen is an independent platform. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB), the American Dental Association (ADA), the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE), or any other licensing authority. Trademarks of those organizations remain the property of their respective owners.
2. Educational purpose only
Content on Lumen is provided for educational and self-assessment purposes only. It is not medical advice and must not be relied on for patient care. We make no warranty that practice on the Service will result in a passing score on any actual examination.
3. No reproduction of real exams
Items on Lumen are exam-style and written against publicly available competency guidelines. We do not reproduce or paraphrase real exam questions. If you believe content infringes on copyright, contact us and we will remove it promptly.
4. Account and acceptable use
You may create an account using a valid email address or supported single-sign-on provider. You are responsible for activity on your account. You may not share, resell, or systematically scrape Service content. You may not use the Service to create competing question banks.
5. Mock credits and refunds
Practice mocks are sold as one-time credit packs through Stripe. Credits never expire. Each mock you start consumes credits up-front; abandoning a mock does not automatically refund the credits. Refunds for accidental purchases or technical failures are considered case-by-case within 7 days of purchase — email support@lumendental.ca. Applicable taxes (GST/HST) are calculated at checkout for Canadian customers. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days’ notice; existing credit balances retain their face value at the time of purchase.
6. Intellectual property
All content, design, and code on Lumen are the property of the operator unless otherwise indicated. You receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal study while your account is in good standing.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lumen and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim, or CAD $100, whichever is greater.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms. You may close your account at any time by contacting us; your data will be handled per our Privacy Policy.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ontario unless required otherwise by your local consumer-protection laws.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms periodically. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-product notice at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
11. Contact
Questions, support, or refund requests: support@lumendental.ca. We aim to reply within two business days.
